One of the most special ways to experience Caragh Lake is to head out on the water with local fisherman Paddy Foley, a neighbour and friend who knows the lake like the back of his hand.

Paddy has spent a lifetime on these waters and loves sharing his knowledge, stories, and passion for the lake with visitors. Guests are collected directly from the jetty at Caragh Lake House, where Paddy will bring you out for a relaxed fishing excursion on the lake — weather permitting.

Caragh Lake is well known for its salmon and trout, and while you might be lucky enough to land a catch, the real highlight of the trip is the experience itself.

With Paddy at the helm, every outing becomes a memorable journey across the lake filled with local history, great humour, and the kind of stories that only someone who has spent decades on the water can tell.

As Paddy likes to say, you might not always catch a fish — but you’ll always come away with a good story.

It’s a simple, authentic Kerry experience and a wonderful way to see Caragh Lake from a different perspective.
